AIC: Day 3 - Foundations of Graphic Design

12/31 CLASS RECAP / NOTES

8:30am: Arrived to school.  Snow, snow, snow.  Another winter storm warning this morning, set to end at 6pm tonight.

8:52am: Lecture.

First topic: with peripherals needed / found in the field.

  • Digital Camera - SLR / Point and Shoot
     - SLR: Single lens reflex
     - 5mp is sufficient
  • Scanners
     - Flatbed scanners
     - Handheld scanners
     - Useful for obtaining textures
  • Wacom Tablet / Digitizer pen
     - low-end version: Bamboo
  • Digital Film / Video

9:15am: For the rest of the class: work on in-class project of business card. 

Requirements:

  • Horizontal or vertical,
  • Name, logo, and at least one color.

Here are the alternate designs that I tried wrapping my head around, but then I remembered what my mentor Seth Godin said about business card designs.  They suck, but never worry (these suck so the school won’t have my work for their portfolio) - 

10:00am: Instructor left and said we were all free to leave due to the poor weather.  I stayed. 

Deadline for the business card will be Monday.  I spent the rest of the time in class researching various business card designs.

12:30pm: Class (officially) over.
